Activity 2: "Let your creativity flow down the river"
Activity 2: "Let your creativity flow down the river"
Installation by Robert Montgomery
Literature is not only on your books, it is present in any facet of your daily life.
Did you ever think about it?
Look around you! Where can you find poetry?
After you have completed the previous short quiz that we'll comment on class, I recommend you to watch the following video which is an extract from a very recommendable film called "The Dead Poets Society":
Poetry can be manifested in many ways and art forms, you are expected to produce a poem or any other literary work of poetic inspiration. I am not asking you to write a love poem that you might find either too obvious or too cheesy. What I am expecting from you is to use your imagination to narrate whatever you want to say. Even the shortest story has the power to thrill the reader, to touch him profoundly or even to change his mind.
One of the shortest stories in the English language, that has often been attributed to Ernest Hemingway, is composed by six words. Only six words. However, it has a beginning, a middle, and an end. This six-words' story could be considered a poem itself. Are you ready to read this moving piece?
You are encouraged to think outside the box to complete this task! It doesn't matter the length of your production as you can see in these examples, it is possible to write a poetic piece in a few words.
That's the power of poetry, to touch people in a few words!
Remember that your poem/short story will be illustrated by your fellow comrades of the subjects of Technical and Artistic Drawing. At the end of the year, the most moving poems and short stories will be part of a mural painting. Good luck and that the muses inspire you!
